Frequently Asked Questions

If I call, can you reserve items in your store for me to pick up?

Yes! Some of our items sell out quickly in a day so you can give us a call during operating hours to see what is available and reserve a quaintly for yourself.  If the items amount to more than $25.00 worth of product, we will ask that you pay for those items over the phone to be held.

If I have a favorite item or flavor, how do I know when you will have it in store?

We love to change our products up and try different flavors! Since we don’t have the exact same menu every day, we suggest that you call us a few days in advance of when you would like to come in and see if we can make that particular flavor or item for the shop that day. We will do our best to accommodate with enough notice!

Do you offer any gluten free, dairy free, vegan or sugar free items?

We currently offer Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons and French Macarons (naturally gluten free), Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies, Gluten Free Vanilla Cupcakes & Cake. Disclaimer: We make everything in the same kitchen therefore we cannot guarantee that there is no risk of cross contamination but we do our best to ensure it! Gluten Free Cakes and Cupcakes must be ordered in advance.

We do not offer any items that are dairy free, vegan or sugar free. If we ever do develop any items in the future that we love and fit these standards, it will be announced on our social media!

Do you offer nut free products?

If there are nuts in any of our product, it is either presented visibly on the item or it is labeled with the type of nut in it.  Our French Macaron shells are all made with almond flour.  We do our best to be careful of cross contamination with any nut products.  If you plan to order from us and know of someone in your party that has a nut allergy, please make us aware at the time of the order so we can alert the kitchen to the allergy.

Your cupcakes are cold when we purchase them in the store.  Why is that?

We take food safety very seriously! We use real ingredients in all of our cupcakes and cakes. They are scratch made so there are no preservatives, shelf stabilizers or artificial flavors.  We use dairy and fruit in our fillings and frostings.  Our cupcakes remain in our refrigerated display to ensure you are getting a safe-to-eat product.  After purchasing your cupcake(s), we suggest that you allow them to sit at room temperature (away from direct heat or sunlight) for about 30 minutes to 1 hour (depending on weather) to allow your cupcake to also come to room temperature! This way you will be enjoying your cake, filling and frosting in its ideal state!

Do you ship your products?

Currently, we do not ship any of our products however we have had customers successfully ship shelf-stable items like, chocolate pops, cookies, and decorated sugar cookies themselves!

Cakes & Custom Orders

Your cake is denser than other cake I have had, why is that?

All of our cakes are made from scratch therefore we do not use any preservatives or chemicals in our cake batter.  Boxed cake mix uses those chemicals and heightened amounts of sugar to create a lighter and sweeter cake.  Scratch made cake naturally has a denser consistency, but we think, it also has a better, richer flavor! All of our cakes are soaked with simple syrup to ensure we lock in the moisture and keep your cake tasting delicious! No cutting corners here!!

Cake texture and flavor preference is highly subjective so we suggest that you try our cake before placing an order to ensure we can provide you with the best outcome!

I don’t like super sweet, store bought-tasting frosting. How is your frosting made?

All of our buttercream is made from scratch, to order.  We use a traditional American style buttercream, which means that we use only butter, sugar and vanilla in our basic buttercream frosting.  We do not overly sweeten our buttercream as we believe that it takes away from the real flavor of the cake!

How much time in advance do you need to place an order?

We can generally accommodate small orders, like daily store items with 24 hours notice.  Full size pies or larger cupcakes orders can be filled generally with 48 hours notice.  Store cakes (6” with no customization) can sometimes be made within 48 hours as well, however depending on the volume of prepaid orders we have for that particular week, we sometimes have to cut off orders.

Custom cakes, cookies, cake pops, cupcakes or larger store cakes should be ordered at least 10-14 days in advance.  We highly suggest placing your order as soon as you know the details of your event to avoid disappointment.  We have a very small staff and space so we do often hit capacity on certain weeks!

I want to place an order for custom items. How should I start the order?

The best way to begin the order of a custom order is to email us at gingersnapsbakeryri@gmail.com and include details such as, what item(s) you are interested in ordering, the date you would need it for, what flavor(s) you would like (if applicable), how many people you will be serving with it, if there is a theme or color scheme you would like it fit, and any inspiration photos you may have that you’d like us to reference.  From here, we will produce a quote for you and send it back to you in a timely manner.  We can also give you options if you are unsure of what will fit into your budget or if you are unsure of exactly what you’d like included in your order.  After we finalize the details of your order, you can stop in the store or call to make a 50% deposit to guarantee it.  We will not consider your inquiry an official order until a 50% deposit is made.

See our Cake Collection page to get cake orders started!

You can always stop into our store to discuss your order as well however, pricing and designing custom orders is a very specific skill and though most of our staff is able to provide basic pricing, they are not all able to help you finalize an order.

If I have a photo of a cake that I love, can you replicate it?

We love when our customers are prepared with inspiration for their order however, every artist has their own style and skill so we prefer to use it as an inspiration rather than an exact replica.  Generally we are also working with slightly different sizes and materials to fit the specifics of your order so we sometimes need to alter the design to better suit your event!

I want you to put a topper, figurine, or toy on my cake/cupcakes, can you do that?

Of course! If you have purchased items that you would like included on your order, please let us know when placing your order and bring those items to us as soon as possible so we can prepare to secure them to your order the best way possible.  We can also help guide you on what the best sizes are to purchase for the size of your order.

If I want a specific image on my cake, can you print an edible image for it?

We can accommodate edible images on cakes however we require at least 2 weeks notice for the order because we do not print the edible sheets in house.  In order to guarantee your print, we need at least two weeks to process and allow for shipping.

Where can I see photos of custom orders you have done?

We try to update our Facebook page as often as possible with new photos of our custom orders so make sure to check that out first! Some of our photos are also here on our website in our Photo Gallery!

Do you deliver?

We can deliver however we have a very limited schedule (due to our small staff) for deliveries other than weddings.  The earlier we are aware of your delivery inquiry, the better the chances that we can fit it into our schedule. All of our deliveries have a specific fee dependent on the distance/time we need to travel to your venue.

I’m getting married and am interested in tasting your cakes.  What should I do?

Head to our Custom Orders page where you can fill out a Wedding Inquiry Form so we can get an idea of what you are looking for and set up your Tasting Box!

How do I properly transport and store my product/order from your store?

It is extremely important that you take extra caution when transporting cakes or delicate items! All of our product should be kept as flat as possible when transporting.  If it is a shelf-stable item, it can be kept at room temperature but we suggest that our product be consumed within 24 hours of purchase to ensure you are getting the best quality.  Any items that were refrigerated in our store should be refrigerated when you get to your destination, unless you will be consuming it within a couple of hours.  All products should be displayed in cool area away from direct heat or sunlight.

Cakes should be held from the bottom and not by the sides of the box.  They should be placed carefully on the passenger side floor of your car, or in the trunk of an SUV or hatchback, not the trunk of a sedan.  Seats of cars are slanted and could potentially damage a cake.  The car should be at a cool temperature. If it is hot outside, your car should have the a/c on high and if it is cold outside, the heat should be turned off for the entire time of travel.  Cakes should be kept out of direct heat or sunlight for extended periods of time.  If you will be serving your cake within a 3-hour window, we suggest that you leave it in a cool place to be displayed until the time of serving.  If you will not be serving it for well over 3 hours, we suggest that you refrigerate it when you arrive at your destination.

Please drive cautiously and avoid braking too quickly or making sharp turns.  We do our best to securely box your order for the easiest transport however some cakes, based on height and shape, cannot be fully covered.  We always make sure we are supplying you with a cold and sturdy cake and will do our best to help you get it securely in your vehicle but once the cake leaves our store, we are no longer responsible for it.  To avoid any preventable mishaps please make yourself aware of these guidelines, listen to our staff when they explain the best way to transport your specific order, and ask questions if you are unsure of anything!

 Forgotten Items

If you are unable to make that time and cannot send someone else to pick up on your behalf, we can hold your order until the following business day for you to pick up as long as your food is still in a food safe zone for us to serve.

Unfortunately we are not able to refund your order since it was already made for you at your desired pick up day/time.
